It’s That Time Of Year, Again?

We start a-new era for Coachella Valley Pool Players

As October is now upon us, so is this Fall’s 8-Ball Team League.  This Tuesday, October 2, 2007 will mark the first night of Team Play for the newly created Coachella Valley Pool Players Association.  With 14 Teams signed up and are ready to play, it looks like we’ll start off better than we left off.

By the looks of things, most of the same players are back along with some new.  We are taking a different approach for this League; it will have a more balanced Handicapped Scoring System, which will prove to make it more enjoyable for ANY level of player!

A change from last year will be limited league intervention in forming teams.  Handicap will balance even the most heavily Stacked teams.

Cole Woolfolk was appointed our HEAD REFEREE for the league.  Cole is a CERTIFIED BCA referee and will answer any rule questions you might have.

In order to make this season’s Play more FUN, there are a few policies that I must go over you.

1.     Always check the Website as it will have the most up-to-date information you are probably looking for. Link: CoachellaValleyBCA.com

2.     CVPPA League Fees are $10 per year and must be paid the FIRST NIGHT OF PLAY.  If this fee is not paid, then the scores for that player will be forfeited.  So Team Captains, make this clear up front and if necessary spot the player the $10 if they don’t have it….

3.     BCA League Fees are $10 per year and must be paid by the end of the 4th. Week of play.  If a regular player fails to pay this fee, they will be dropped from that teams roster and can only be used as a Substitute.  They will NOT be allowed to compete in any BCA sanctioned events.  It is recommended that on the first night that the Team Captain requests a total of $30 from each regular player ($10 CVPPA, $10 BCA and $10 weekly Dues).

4.     There will be NO ‘SHORTS’ when it comes to weekly dues ($10 per player).  If a player arrives for play, they MUST pay their $10 Dues or their score for the night will be forfeited.  No Exceptions!

5.     The HOME Team Captain (or designee) will be responsible for keeping the official score for that night of play.  All players shall report their score to the HOME Team Captain at the end of each game.  Disputes shall be reviewed by the two Team Captains and final resolve shall be the decision of the VISITING Team’s Captain.

6.     The HOME TEAM Captain shall collect the fees from both teams and make sure that the information is properly notated on the score sheet.  At the end of the night, the HOME Captain shall place the funds collected, the TOP (white) sheet of the score sheet and any other documentation into the envelope provided and deliver to a designated drop point. (Outpost Tavern or Robbie T’s)

Tips to Improve Your Game
By the Mid-Atlantic Billiard Network

Set the balls up in order, starting with the ball nearest the short rail. Pocket the balls in order using draw to get appropriate position on the next ball. Expert players can even execute this drill without sending the cue ball to the bottom rail. This is a really tough drill and and a run of six or seven balls is pretty good.
